Who We are
Nyamukara Empowerment is an impact-driven South African 100% Black women owned, Level 1 B-BBEE registered non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women, youth and persons with disabilities through skills development, economic inclusion, digital literacy, dialogues and community-based support programmes. Our work focuses on creating sustainable pathways to dignity, employment and entrepreneurship for vulnerable groups.
Our Story
Nyamukara Empowerment NPC was born from a deep commitment to restoring hope, dignity and opportunity in response to the growing realities of unemployment, poverty, gender-based violence (GBV) and limited access to skills development opportunities that continue to affect many women and vulnerable communities. We recognised that while many women, youth and persons with disabilities possess resilience, determination and untapped potential, they often lack access to opportunities to training, employment pathways, mentorship and the resources needed to achieve lasting economic independence.
Our founders were inspired by the belief that true empowerment goes beyond the short-term and requires equipping individuals with practical skills, knowledge, confidence and opportunities that enable them to build sustainable livelihoods and create financially secure futures for themselves.
We believe that economic empowerment is one of the most effective tools for reducing vulnerability, breaking cycles of poverty and helping our beneficiaries reclaim control over their social and economic circumstances.
The Social Challenges
South Africa continues to face high levels of unemployment, inequality and gender-based violence, with women and young people often disproportionately affected. Many women encounter barriers such as limited access to education and vocational training, financial exclusion and a lack of employment opportunities.
Nyamukara Empowerment addresses these interconnected challenges by creating programmes that provide practical skills, accredited training, digital literacy, mentorship and pathways to entrepreneurship and employment. Our approach recognises that lasting change requires both economic opportunity and supportive communities where women and all our beneficiaries are encouraged to thrive.
